Late last year I finally had a go at macro videography. Inspired by the photos I’d had of various peacock spiders (Maratus sp.), and by a recently acquired ground-level tripod, I set out to Mulligan’s Flat reserve (North of Canberra, ACT, AU) to give it a go. The rig was pretty shaky at 2.5x life size magnification, and the cicadas were super loud that day, so I’d mentally written it off as a failure.

The video just sat on my hard drive until recently during COVID lockdown, when I had a go at editing it (using the excellent kdenlive). I’m reasonably happy at how this turned out, given it’s my first attempt at such a project. I’d love any feedback you may have (email info @ this domain, or @third.silence.photo on instagram).
